🌟 SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: IAN 🌟

Hi everyone! My name is Ian, and I just recently graduated UCLA!

For the past four years, I’ve had the absolute honor of being a part of this amazing group. I’m not exaggerating when I say this, but ScatterTones has truly been one of the greatest blessings of my life.

When I first came to UCLA, I was excited but also scared about where I’d fit in, both socially and creatively, at such a huge school. Thankfully, ScatterTones welcomed me and all of my ambitions with open arms. Over the years, I had the privilege of growing alongside some of the most talented, kindhearted, and inspiring people I’ve ever met. They not only fueled my love for music and performance, but also challenged me to become a better artist and person. One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that art is about sharing stories and connecting with others, not about proving anything.

But beyond the music, ScatterTones became my second family. I felt that I lived a bunch of lifetimes during my time at UCLA, and some of its seasons were definitely harder than others. Through it all, this group remained a constant source of love, support, and belonging. It is what we do that kept me grounded when life felt overwhelming, and this community became such an important part of my own path of self-discovery and healing.

To every ScatterTone who came before me, grew alongside me, and will continue after me: THANK YOU! You have no idea how much you all mean to me, and I am grateful to have gained so much love and wisdom from each and every one of you! I love you all so much!💗

Hi everyone! I’m Ciabel Querol, and I graduated from UCLA in December 2025 with a BS in Psychobiology :)

I decided to join a capella because I missed the creative outlet that singing gave me. A chance decision turned into a whirlwind of 2.5 years that I will never regret. Far from a simple pastime or creative outlet, Scatts has become a second family for me and a safe space where I can truly be myself.

I am SO incredibly grateful to have been a part of this group for 2.5 years. I have grown immensely as a singer and as a person through my experiences in Scatts, and it has been such a joy to be able to do what I love with the people I love. Everyone has something special that they bring to the group, and I’ve been blessed to be able to learn from each talented vocalist I’ve crossed paths with.

Though it’s bittersweet to have to leave, I’m excited to see what new heights the group will reach. Thank you for everything Scatts :) I love you all so, so much 🩷🤍🦋

It would be an understatement to say that The ScatterTones played a vital role in my college experience. The first college party I ever attended was an a cappella mixer - (I know, super cool right?!?) - where I met the very same people that would be a guiding light for me for years to come, and exist as my best and closest friends.

With The ScatterTones I saw the Hollywood Sign for the first time, I got to dress up in lederhosen and get to sing for celebrities, enjoyed my first In ‘N Out Burger, got to sing Where Is My Husband for a sold out audience in the same competition that my queen Sara Barielles performed in, and… are we sensing the pattern? So many of my favorite memories and moments have been created by this group and by these people and I just could not feel more grateful.

ScatterTones pushed me to be better while keeping me modest and hardworking. I feel privileged to have been a music director my junior year, and that in doing so I got to collaborate with some of the most amazing people and vocalists I’d ever known. It taught me so much, as this group always has, and those lessons have been invaluable.

I can’t thank enough the members who came before me and accepted me as their own: when I entered my freshman year, I don’t think I had experienced such a sense of belonging and fulfillment from such a talented and caring community, and I know that will stay with me wherever I go. I am thrilled to carry on that legacy as an alumni, and I am so proud and excited for what is to come for this incredible group🩷 from the bottom of my heart, thank you #pinkforever

There is no better feeling (to me! lol) than singing with others, but it’s even better when you get to sing with your best friends. And THESE friends also happen to be the most talented and loveliest people I’ve ever had the honor of meeting. I’m so incredibly lucky to have made such beautiful memories with my time in ScatterTones, and it’s honestly still surreal to me that I even left at all.

Thank you to ALL my beautiful Scatts, for accepting me and embracing me for who I am. I still remember the sheer amount of excitement I felt when I opened that acceptance email, and it’s insane to think it’s now the end of a whole four-year chapter. Will I miss singing in ovals, getting crunk at retreats, and eating that College Notes pizza? 1000x YES. But to my past, present, and future ScatterFamilia, Unc Nae will always be down for a call or a hang <3 #bitingdown #lockingin
